Ilya Shenker was
born into working class family in Odessa, Ukraine in 1920. Like
many other talented artists he decided to emigrate and create a
new life in New York in 1974. The artist combines with great harmony
the discipline of line drawing applied to fairy tale subjects and
an unusual treatment of color to images moving in cadence. When
the artist presents his vision of fairy tales, oriental domes, white
snow, forests, and people, he leads us into a mysterious atmosphere
of solitude and spirituality. |
